What is included

A wireframe is the plan with the paint left off.

Four rules that make a wireframe worth more than the redesign it saves you.

  1. We list what a buyer needs answered, in the order they ask. That list becomes the page. A section that answers nothing comes off.

    How a build runs
  2. Placeholder text hides every problem in a plan. We write the headings and first lines for each section. A section only works if something true fits in it.

    See the work
  3. We leave out colour, fonts and photos on purpose. That keeps the chat on whether the page works, and off whether you like the blue.

    The proof we show
  4. You get a brief with the structure, the copy and the reason for each section written down. It's yours, and any team can build from it, including one that isn't us.

What you get

Website Development Group

A brief you own

Build it with us, your team or anyone.

Generalist build

Pretty screens

Nice to look at, hard to build from.

How it runs

From first call to launch, minus the headaches.

You see the page plan before design starts, and the design before we build. So there are no nasty surprises at the end.

Week 1

Discovery

We agree what the site has to do and who it has to win over. Then we list what they need answered.

What we deliver

  • Goals and constraints
  • Audience and search notes
  • Objections to answer
  • Fixed quote with line items
A business owner laughing during a video strategy call on his laptop, in a light-filled room with a window behind him

Weeks 1 to 2

Architecture

Which pages exist and how they connect, planned from search data and never from a kickoff meeting.

What we deliver

  • Sitemap
  • Page types and templates
  • Internal linking plan
  • Priority order
A crowd of people crossing a busy city street, shot from above with their movement blurred

Weeks 2 to 3

Wireframes

Every page as a stack of grey sections, each one answering a question, with the headings already written.

What we deliver

  • Section structure per page
  • Headings and first lines
  • Form and button placement
  • Mobile order as well as desktop
Three colleagues around a table of laptops, one standing and gesturing at a screen while the other two look on

Week 3

Messaging

We write the hero, the proof and the answers to doubts. The plan gets tested against words instead of boxes.

What we deliver

  • Hero messaging
  • Proof and objection copy
  • Calls to action
  • Tone notes
Blue and lime patch cables plugged into a rack panel and sweeping away in order

Week 4

Handover

We walk you through it and hand it over as a brief your team or ours can build straight from.

What we deliver

  • Annotated wireframes
  • Written build brief
  • Tracking plan
  • Walkthrough session

The long read

Why grey boxes save you the expensive week.

Every structural problem is cheap while it's a rectangle. It gets expensive once it has a font.

The cost of a change keeps climbing

Moving a section in a wireframe takes an hour. Moving it after design takes a week, because the copy no longer fits and the layout was balanced around it.

An hour, then a week. That's the whole case for doing this first.

The work doesn't disappear either way. You just pay a different rate for it, depending on when you find it.

What one structural change costs
Cost to change Budget left

Illustrative: the shape rework cost takes across a project, not a measurement.

Lorem ipsum hides the problem

Placeholder text fits any box, which is exactly what makes it useless.

Write the actual heading and half the sections fall over, because nothing true fits in them.

That's a good thing. It's far better to find out while the section is a grey rectangle. Finding out after 2 days of design work hurts.

The brief is what you're buying

You get the structure, the copy and the reasons, all written down.

Any team can build from it, including one that isn't us.

We'd love to build it, obviously. But a wireframe you can't take elsewhere is a lock-in with a nice diagram on it.

Bring the ideas. We'll turn them into a plan anyone can build.

Questions

Website wireframe questions, answered straight.

What you need to know before we start a conversation.

Not answered here? Ask us directly

What is a website wireframe?

A website wireframe is a plain grey plan of each page. It shows which sections go where, what each one says and where the buttons and forms sit. It leaves out colours, fonts and photos. That way you can agree the structure and the message before any design time is spent.

Can we take the wireframes to another team?

Yes. You get a written brief with the structure, the copy and the reason behind each section. It's yours to keep, and any developer or agency can build from it. We'd like to build it for you, but you're never locked in to us.

How long does website wireframing take?

Wireframing is a slice of the full website timeline, and most full websites take 4 to 12 weeks. A handful of key pages takes less time than a full set of templates. You get a dated schedule in your fixed quote before you commit to anything.

If you build the site too, do we pay for the plan twice?

No. The structure and the copy carry straight into the build, so nothing gets redone. Your fixed quote shows the wireframing and the build as separate line items. You can see exactly what each part costs before you say yes.
