Product page optimisation for the buyers who look, then leave.

Most people who reach a product page leave without adding to cart. Usually they had a question the page didn't answer. Our product page optimisation finds that question, changes 1 thing at a time and tracks each change all the way to the order.

What is included

Answer the buyer's question before they have to ask.

These 4 rules let us change a product page without guessing or breaking what already sells.

  1. Price, delivery date, returns and the right variant, answered above the add to cart, in the order buyers ask.

    How a build runs
  2. Delivery cost and date sit beside the price, because a late surprise is a top reason carts get left. Returns wording follows the Australian Consumer Law.

    See the work
  3. Each test changes 1 thing. When the number moves, you know what moved it and can use it again.

    The proof we show
  4. We track from add to cart through to purchase, so a change that looks good on clicks but loses orders never ships.

    Questions people ask

The argument

A tested page beats a redesign built on hunches.

Starting point

Website Development Group

What buyers did on the page

Recordings, scroll depth and search terms.

Generalist build

What the team dislikes

Opinions about the colour of the button.

The change

Website Development Group

One thing, then measure

You know which change moved the number.

Generalist build

Everything at once

Sales move, nobody knows why.

What is measured

Website Development Group

Add to cart through to purchase

A change that adds carts but loses orders is caught.

Generalist build

Clicks on the button

More carts, the same revenue.

When to stop

Website Development Group

Enough orders to settle it

A test runs until the data can answer.

Generalist build

When the chart looks good

A lucky week called a win.

How it runs

From first call to launch, minus the headaches.

You see the page plan before design starts, and the design before we build. So there are no nasty surprises at the end.

Week 1

Audit

We watch how buyers use the product page now, and check the tracking can see every step from product view to paid order.

What we deliver

  • Funnel from view to order
  • Session recordings reviewed
  • Tracking gaps fixed
  • Fixed quote with line items
A business owner laughing during a video strategy call on his laptop, in a light-filled room with a window behind him

Weeks 1 to 2

Questions

Every hesitation we find becomes a question the page isn't answering. We rank them by how many buyers they touch.

What we deliver

  • Buyer questions, ranked
  • Support and review themes
  • Competitor page comparison
  • Test hypotheses written down
A crowd of people crossing a busy city street, shot from above with their movement blurred

Weeks 2 to 3

Design

We design and build the first change as a variant. Your current page keeps selling while the new one proves itself.

What we deliver

  • Variant design
  • Copy for the change
  • Build and QA on devices
  • Contrast measured to AA
Three colleagues around a table of laptops, one standing and gesturing at a screen while the other two look on

Weeks 3 to 6

Test

The variant runs against your current page until enough orders come through to call the result either way.

What we deliver

  • Split test running
  • Weekly readout
  • Guardrails on revenue
  • Stop rule agreed up front
Blue and lime patch cables plugged into a rack panel and sweeping away in order

Weeks 6 to 7

Roll out

The winner goes onto every product using that template. We write up the result and queue the next question on the list.

What we deliver

  • Winner shipped to the template
  • Result written up plainly
  • Next test queued
  • Handover of the test log

The long read

What a product page is for, and where most fall short.

A product page has one job: to answer everything a buyer needs to know before they commit. Most of the gains come from finding the question it isn't answering.

Buyers leave with a question unanswered

Almost nobody leaves a product page because the button was the wrong colour.

They leave because the buyer went looking for an answer and did not find it. When will it arrive? Will it fit? What if I send it back?

So the first job is finding those questions in recordings, support emails and reviews. Then we rank them before we redesign anything.

Test one change or learn nothing

Change the images, the copy and the layout at once, and sales might rise or fall. Either way, you have a result and no lesson.

Run a single change until enough orders arrive to settle it. Then you learn something you can use on every product that shares the template.

Where product page visits end
Reached this step Left before it

Illustrative: the usual shape of a product page funnel, not a measurement of yours. We measure yours in the audit.

Add to cart is not the finish line

It's easy to raise the add to cart rate. Hide the shipping cost, and more people will add the product. Hiding costs until the last step can also mislead buyers under the Australian Consumer Law.

More carts is not the same as more orders. They leave at checkout instead, and now they're annoyed.

That is why every test here is judged on purchases and revenue, with add to cart as a signal rather than the goal.

When testing is not worth it yet

A store with a handful of orders a week does not have the traffic to split. A test cannot reach an answer in any useful time.

In that case the audit is the job: fix the obvious gaps, make the changes the evidence supports, and start testing once the orders are there.

Send us your best seller. We'll find the question it isn't answering.

Questions

Product page questions, answered straight.

What you need to know before we start a conversation.

Not answered here? Ask us directly

How much traffic do we need to run tests?

It depends on how many orders the page produces, more than on visits. We work it out in the audit. If a test would take months to answer, we recommend the audit on its own.

What kind of changes do you test?

Whatever the evidence points to: delivery and returns information, image order, variant pickers, the product description, the price display. Never a colour for its own sake.

Will testing slow the product page down?

It shouldn't. We build variants into the template instead of loading a heavy testing script on top, so the page stays within its Core Web Vitals budget.

Can you guarantee a conversion increase?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Some tests lose, and a lost test is still useful. It stops a bad change reaching every product. What we promise is honest measurement.

What does product page optimisation cost?

The audit is a fixed quote with line items, after a free 15-minute strategy call. A testing programme is a fixed monthly scope with no lock-in, quoted once the audit shows what's worth testing.

Does this work on Shopify and WooCommerce?

The method is the same on both platforms. The tracking is set up to follow a buyer from product view to paid order on whichever platform you use.

Will changing product copy affect our rankings?

It can help, since clearer answers often match what buyers search. We keep the product's main terms in the title and description, and we check nothing a page ranks for is removed.
